About Yuri
Yuri's dedication to Shodō began at a very young age. By the time she was 24, she was a Shodō master. Her background is just as unique as her art. She initially pursued pharmacy and education research, then completely dedicated herself to the timeless art Shodō.
"At this age, typing makes it easy to express your feelings, but I prefer the traditional way," says Yuri. "When I actually write, energy exists in words, and I can feel the emotions of the person who writes them. It is said that the soul exists in words, but I believe that the soul exists in the written characters." This deep connection to the written words creates her passion and dedication.
Furthermore, to spread the traditional Japanese culture of Shodō, she digitised the words she wrote and fused them with various images and videos to create new artwork. This novel idea has made it possible for people in places and environments where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain. She has also produced many traditional works of calligraphy.
